1. Is myNews.com one of those Dot com internet service companies?
  No. We may be categorized as a news and media business, selling print media materials such as newspapers, magazines, comics and a wide variety of fiction and non fiction books.

When did this Company begins its operations?

  Our first store began its business on 25th December 1996 at One Utama Shopping Complex, Petaling Jaya.

Who are the owners of this Company? Are the outlets wholly owned or operate under franchise?

  The Company which is registered under the name of Bison Stores Sdn Bhd is wholly owned by Malaysians. We do not franchise our business to third parties.
   
 
   
4. What is the Company’s Mission?
 

To provide the widest range and selection of books and magazines to our customers at a reasonable price at easily accessible locations.

   
 
   
5. But there is no outlet in the marketplace that are under the name of Bison Stores Sdn Bhd.
  Bison Stores Sdn Bhd is the holding company and its outlets operate under the business names of myNews.com, Newsplus and Magbit.
   
 
   
6. Where are your outlets situated?
 

At the last count, there are over 110 outlets but because we are always in the process of opening up new outlets, you are advised to go to our sub menu on outlet locations for more up todate details.

Is it true that you have the largest chain of retail outlets for books and magazines?

 

Yes. Indeed we do. Our outlets are not only situated throughout the Peninsular but we have outlets over at East Malaysia as well.

   
 
   
8. Is there any preference for the choice of locations for your outlets?
  Our strategy is to identify locations that have high traffic of people such as along the light rail transit stations, popular shopping malls, hypermarket chains and areas of high population of offices and commercial premises.
   
 
   
9. So, where are these so called high traffic locations?
 

Popular shopping malls  :  KLCC, Mid Valley, 1 Utama, Pavilion, Lot 10 etc

           

LRT Stations :  We have outlets along the Star and Putra LRT lines

           

Hypermarkets : We have outlets at Tesco, Jusco, Giant, Carrefour and Parkson

          

Transport Terminals : Transport terminal such as Sentral Station, petrol stations and Genting bus terminal.

 

Office and Commercial Premises : Office buildings such as Menara Telekom and Capital Square.

   
 
   
10. What are the type of books and magazines that you sell at your outlets?
 

We sell magazines in Bahasa Malaysia, English and Chinese and these are the    more popular titles on leisure and travel, health and diet, cookery and embroidery, decorations and designs, fashions and bridal wear, finance and             investment, movies and entertainment, IT and technology, science and discoveries etc.

 

Apart from magazines, we also carry books in the three languages and these are mainly fiction and self help titles besides the more popular novels and works by local authors, travel, cookery and design.

   
 
   
11. Besides books and magazines, are there any other goods that you sell?
 

We sell a wide range of cash and carry items such as stationery, light foodstuff, beverages, mineral water, tit bits, tobacco, telephone reloads, touch & go cards, toys, chocolate and sweets, cough drops, health care products etc.

Do you sell books and magazines online?

 

Not at the present moment but work is underway to launch our online subscription system to make our products and services accessible to anyone in the world who has access to the internet.

   
 
   
13. Do you accept credit cards for over the counter purchases?
  No, but work is underway with a major financial institution to provide such access to our customers in the near future.
   
 
   
14. What if I purchase an item from one of your outlets and subsequently found that I do not need this item and would like to return it for cash?
 

Our policy is that goods sold are not refundable. However, the purchaser could exchange for other merchandise of similar value that are on sale at the outlet.

   
 
   
15. I notice from the home page in your web site that there is also a café. Is this café related to your company?
 

Yes. Presently, two of our outlets operate under the trade name of myNewscafé and these are located at Tesco Mutiara and at 1 Utama Shopping Complex.

 

Both of these outlets serve a menu of local and western cuisines that are moderately priced. The design of these two cafes has been carefully chosen to provide a friendly and relaxing ambience for our customers to enjoy reading the latest selection of magazines that are available there while having  their meals.
